Wildlife Safety at Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Transcript

A female ranger waves at prairie dogs. We cut to a male ranger looking around, using his hands as binoculars. The screen cuts to black before we see a female ranger looking through a camera as we pan to a herd of bison off in the distance.

Description

When it comes to any wildlife in the park, especially large, unpredictable ones, maintaining a distance of at least 75 feet (25 yards) is imperative for your safety, as well as the safety of the animal. If you get an opportunity to observe them from a relatively close distance, make sure you still have a good amount of space between you and the animal and watch for body language that may indicate you're encroaching on their personal space.
