Description

Park Ranger Cameron Boutin details the US Army's establishment of a supply depot in Central Kentucky by order of Major General Ambrose E. Burnside, commander of the Department of the Ohio, on April 25, 1863. Army engineers selected a site a few miles south of Nicholasville four days later on April 29th.

Camp Nelson was born.
