Community Volunteer Ambassador Alissa of Stones River National Battlefield, Mary Watkins of the African American Heritage Society of Rutherford County, and historian Dr. Rebecca Conard, discuss the unique Freedman community in middle Tennessee. The Cemetery Community takes its name from the Stones River National Cemetery, where formerly enslaved Black people lived, attended worship services, and worked in agriculture.
