Dragon Bravo Fire - Aerial Reconnaissance - July 14, 2025

Grand Canyon National Park

Descriptive Transcript

This aerial footage, captured on July 14, 2025, shows smoke from the Dragon Bravo Fire along the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.

Filmed from an incident aircraft, the video highlights visible smoke columns below and above the canyon rim. In this clip, the historic Grand Canyon Lodge comes into view. To the viewer’s right, along the rim, you can see where retardant was strategically applied to slow fire spread and protect key infrastructure.

A Chinook helicopter is also seen departing after completing a water drop. These aircraft perform repeated single mission flights (sorties) to deliver targeted water drops, helping to cool hot spots and support the full suppression efforts of firefighters working on the ground.
