Description

Captain John Hance (1840-1919) tells the story of how he dug Grand Canyon. Calling himself the greatest liar in Arizona, he learned quickly that mining the pockets of tourists was much easier and more fun than real mining. He could truthfully claim to be the first permanent white canyon resident, and he opened the first tourist trail, all the while becoming as much of an attraction as the canyon itself.
