A bull elk in the distance makes a high-pitched bugling sound and is answered by a nearby bull elk.  The nearby bull elk bugles repeatedly with long bugling sounds and occasionally shorter grunting sounds.  The distant bull elk continues to answer with fainter bugles of his own.

Bull elk bugle and respond to each other while cow elk graze nearby.
