Descriptive Transcript
The interactive graphic illustrates the movements of 15 female horses (represented by different colors) every two hours during December 2025 & January 2026 within the boundaries of the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. These individuals were selected for their social associations, and thus their movements represent collective movements of approximately 137 out of 197 (70%) horses in the park. The paths of travel for individuals are shown as gray lines. Collared individuals frequented varying locations including Coal Vein Trailhead, the Southeast corner of the park, The North central park boundary, Wind Canyon road junction, Cottonwood Campground, Upper Plateau on the MDH trail, North Little Missouri river boundary, Johnson's Plateau, and Jones Creek.
