Rachel Carson Wayside Dedication
Photographs from the unveiling of an interpretive panel commemorating Rachel Carson in Glover Archbold Park. The event took place on Tuesday, September 27, at 1pm near the Glover Archbold Trail on the south side of Reservoir Road. The event coincided with the 54th Anniversary of the release of Rachel Carson's book Silent Spring, which brought public attention to the damaging effects of pesticides on wildlife, and helped spark the modern environmental movement. Speakers included Rock Creek Park Superintendent Tara Morrison, District of Columbia Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton and Dr. Diana Post, President of the Rachel Carson Landmark Alliance.
