Birds

These feathery friends come to live in Lowell for all sorts of reasons. Many make use of the Merrimack River and canals for food and shelter. Others make their home in Lowell's parks and rooftops. Birds of prey perch on buildings or fly high in the sky, searching for small mammals, reptiles and birds.

During the summer season, you can find a variety of migratory birds making their home along the waterways and in the heart of the city itself. Explore these and other migratory bird patterns by visiting the Audubon Bird Migration Explorer!

Lowell is home to many species of birds. The examples below are some of the most common species you might find all across the Spindle City.
