Lowell Women's Week honors the women who came before us and celebrates the women of today. This celebration takes place in March, proclaimed by a joint resolution of Congress in 1987 as Women's History Month. This month-long observance grew out of Women's History Week, initiated in 1978 by the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women and enacted in 1981 by a Joint Congressional Resolution. At the center of the celebration is the International Women's Day, celebrated worldwide on March 8th. Lowell Women's Week website, here. |
