Songs from the Lower Mississippi Delta

 

The New Orleans Jazz NHP is pleased to announce the release of its new double disc music CD which interprets National Park Service sites and their surrounding regions in the Lower Mississippi Delta. Every song has a tale to tell; from historic monologues and poetry set to music, to work songs, ring shouts, blues, and coded spirituals. Park rangers and researchers have provided song material, suggestions, and expertise in this collaborative effort to identify and interpret songs connected to national parks and neighboring communities throughout the lower Mississippi delta region. Song selection was based on either a specific connection to a national park in the lower Mississippi delta, or to the region that the park is in.
