As part of National Park Week and National Junior Ranger Day, special programs will be offered on Saturday, April 19 at Historic Jamestowne. Younger visitors will have the opportunity to join the National Park Service Family as Junior Rangers participating in a series of free games and activities during their park visit and receive a special National Junior Ranger patch.

Family-friendly activities for all ages will be presented between 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on April 19. Students from Jamestown High School's Rho Kappa Honor Society will be presenting the programs. All programs and park admission are free on April 19, 2014.

* 9:30 a.m.. Bird Walk on the Island Drive - Join local Master Naturalist and Wildlife Mapper for a one hour walk on Jamestown's Island Drive (loop drive will be closed to vehicle traffic). Look for local wildlife residents as well as migratory birds. Bird list will be provided. Please bring binoculars, water and bug spray.

* 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Ongoing throughout the day)
Living History Characters roving the historic site answering visitors' questions
Hands-on Craft Demonstrations inside the Historic Jamestowne Visitor Center
Children's Games and dancing, outside on the historic site
Mock Archaeology Dig Box, outside on the historic site

* 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. 5-mile Bike Tour along the Island Drive Loop: The students leading the tour will stop at several locations to discuss the ecology and history of Jamestown Island (Island Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic). Participants must bring their own bikes and equipment--bug spray and bottled water are highly recommended.

* 1:00 p.m. One hour 3-mile walking tour along the Island Drive Loop: The students leading the tour will stop at several locations to discuss the ecology and history of Jamestown Island (The Island Drive will be closed to vehicle traffic). Participants should bring bug spray and bottled water.

* 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. 45-minute guided walking tours of the historic site where visitors will meet various living history characters imparting their personal stories about daily life at Jamestown during the 17th century.
