Fire Research

Research studies expand upon the park’s current knowledge base and allow for refined fire management objectives. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore works in collaboration with USGS(United States Geological Survey). Together we develop on-going research projects investigating prescribed fire, wildland fire, fire surrogates, and fire history.
