Bighorn sheep browse bluegrass, sedges, wheatgrass, bromes, fescue, clover phlox, and cinquefoil.
Bobcats are mostly active at night and spend the day in rock shelters.
Bighorn sheep were once on the edge of extinction here. A reintroduction happened in Colorado National Monument in the 1980s.
Coyotes have grayish-buff body fur and off-white bellies.
The desert cottontail cannot tolerate the heat of the day and will occupy abandoned badger or coyote burrows or rest under vegetation.
