What We Inventory

Management and stewardship of natural resources in Heartland Network parks begins with knowledge about these resources. The National Park Service established an inventory program with the goal of acquiring a basic set of information for a variety of resources, including species, geology, soils, and vegetation. Inventories serve as the baseline for developing monitoring plans and for making sound management decisions.
