On March 27, 2014 the park will have a formal commemorative ceremony to remember the battle that took place here 200 years ago. Speakers will acknowledge the lives lost and the national significance of the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. The event will begin at 10:30 AM CST at the park's visitor center. This event is free and open to the public. The evening of March 27, 2014 there will be a luminary event on the battlefield beginning at 6:30 PM CST and ending at 8:30 PM. There will be a short interpretive program every 30 minutes prior to visitors driving out to see the luminaries. A luminary will be placed on the battlefield to represent every life lost in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend. Schedules and additional information will be posted to this site over the next few weeks. |
