Come experience what life was like 200 years ago while being part of the historic Bicentennial events at Horseshoe Bend National Military Park. Over eighty demonstrators will have camps set up showing what life was like for Creek Indians, Cherokee Indians, the Tennessee Militia and the US Infantry. There will be Creek Stomp Dances, cannon firing demonstrations and black powder musket firing demonstration throughout both days. A special activity booklet will be available for children ages 5-12 to complete and earn a special edition Bicentennial patch. All events are free to the public and there will be food available for purchase on site. Friday evening at 7PM the play Tecumseh at Tuckabatchee will be performed behind the park's visitor center. It is an engaging full-scale theatrical production that takes audiences back in time to Tecumseh's 1811 arrival and speech at Tuckabatchee, as well as offers rare glimpses into the unique culture, traditions and dances of the Muscogee. Tickets are free, but required. All living history events are rain or shine during the day Friday and Saturday. Tickets are required to attend the play Tecumseh at Tuckabatchee and will be available March 1st. In the event of inclement weather a message will be posted to this website and on the park's facebook page with information by 3 PM Friday March 28th. |
