Artillery at Horseshoe Bend Commanded by Captain Joel Parrish, Jr. 

Artillery Company details: Captain Joel Parrish, Jr.’s artillery company served March to May 1814 under Major General Andrew Jackson. Records include officer and enlisted personnel lists noting wounded soldiers, including one who died shortly after joining. 

Service Dates: March 1, 1814-May 16, 1814

** Samuel Geanor is listed in Jackson's correspondence as Samuel "Gaines". He was the only artilleryman, of eleven wounded, to die (3-29-1814). According to the muster roll, he joined the company on March 16, 1814. He lived 13 more days.

"I certify on honor that this roll exhibits a true State of the company nowunder my command and that the remarks set oposite the mens names are accurate and just."

The sources are the original muster rolls dated April 1814 from the National Archives and an original list of killed and wounded from the Chicago Historical Society.
