Public Notice the NPS is imposing a temporary closure of, and public use limit in, certain designated parklands at the National Mall and Memorial Parks, George Washington Memorial Parkway, and National Capital Parks-East.

On August 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. local time the following National Park Service (NPS) areas will be closed to vehicle traffic.

Pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 1.5, the National Park Service (NPS) is imposing a temporary closure of, and public use limit in, certain designated parklands at the National Mall and Memorial Parks, George Washington Memorial Parkway, and National Capital Parks-East to accommodate filming in preparation for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, as delineated in the maps below. Closures will be lifted as soon as they are no longer necessary, restoring access to the public as soon as practicable. Violation is prohibited. The USPP has determined it necessary to temporarily close the following locations:
Between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

• National Capital Parks-East

  • Anacostia Drive SE from South Capitol Street to Nicholson Street SE and Marion Barry Avenue SE from Aviation Drive SE to Anacostia Drive SE.

Between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

• George Washington Memorial Parkway

  • Arlington Memorial Bridge and Memorial Circle

  • Memorial Avenue (NPS portion)

• National Mall and Memorial Park

  • The southwest portion of Lincoln Memorial Circle NW

  • Entrance ramp from Arlington Memorial Bridge to Ohio Dr SW
