Great Egg Harbor National Wild and Scenic River has multiple areas with public access, including: Cape May National Wildlife Refuge; New Jersey State Forests and Wildlife Management Areas, and; local and county parks.

Visitor services for the Great Egg Harbor National Wild and Scenic River are provided by Atlantic County Parks at the Warren E. Fox Nature Center. The Warren E. Fox Nature Center is a great starting point to explore the Great Egg Harbor River and has a National Park Passport Stamp and Junior Ranger program. The Warren E. Fox Nature Center is located at: 109 Route 50, Mays Landing, New Jersey 08330.

The best stretch for canoeing is the 22 miles between Penny Pot County Park and Atlantic County Park at Lake Lenape. Penny Pot is off Route 561 along the Black Horse Pike, Route 322. You can cut the trip roughly in half by putting in at Weymouth County Park (Route 559 off Black Horse Pike).
