The National Park Service (NPS) wants to know what you think! Your input on planning documents, proposed regulations and policies, and other actions taken by the NPS helps us better manage the national parks. We seek your input in the following ways:
- NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC) Site: The PEPC site includes both planning projects with documents open for public comment and proposed policies that affect the public. Planning and environmental documents help guide management of park resources and visitor use and activities, while policies are designed to improve the internal management of the NPS. On the PEPC site, you can find documents by park or search by keyword, state, project type, and more.
- regulations.gov: Issuing regulations is one way the NPS carries out its responsibilities to manage parks and programs. Proposed and final rules, public comments, and supporting and related materials for NPS and Department of the Interior (DOI) regulations can be found at www.regulations.gov. When proposed regulations are available for public comment, you may submit comments there. NPS and DOI regulations are published in the Federal Register and found in title 36 and title 43 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
- federalregister.gov: In addition to regulations, the Federal Register publishes other documents that announce decisions, proposed policies, meetings, and other actions or events taken by the NPS and DOI that may be of interest to the public. Some of these notices request public comment. NPS and DOI documents published in the Federal Register can be found on www.federalregister.gov.
