Kids love to go bird watching and Jamaica Bay is a great place to test their observation skills.

On Sunday, August 2, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, it’s all about the birds for children four years and up, accompanied by an adult. Listen to a bird story, make a birdhouse, and take a bird-oriented nature walk. Bring binoculars, insect and sun protection. Wear clothes to get dirty in. The Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge is part of the Jamaica Bay Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area, National Park Service. The refuge visitor center is in Queens on Cross Bay Boulevard between Howard Beach and Broad Channel.
