Refuge Visitor Contact Station to Close Temporarily: New Exhibits will Enhance Popular Facility The Visitor Contact Station at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge will close temporarily while new exhibits are being installed. The Visitor Contact Station will be closed from Monday, June 23 through Thursday, July 3. During that time the Refuge trails will remain open, and visitors will still have access to restrooms during normal business hours (8:30am - 5:00pm). Rangers will also be on duty to assist visitors and to carry out scheduled ranger-led programs. Noted Kathy Krause, the Chief of Interpretation for the Jamaica Bay Unit of Gateway, “This is very exciting. Installation of the permanent educational exhibits will put the finishing touches on this terrific new Visitor Contact Station. The exhibits will interpret Jamaica Bay's history, its remarkable plant and animal life, and how people continue to shape the nature of the bay.” For more information, call 718-318-4340. |
