Afternoon at Mont Sec House Saturday, October 11, 2008 1:00 – 3:00pm at Mont Sec House

Join a National Park Ranger in period costume as you tour Mont Sec House, located at Fort Wadworth on Staten Island. Learn about how a U.S. Army family lived during the 1890’s. The house, built in 1889, is furnished to the period, as it might have looked when U.S. Army officer Charles Winne and his family lived there.

African American men and women have been part of our military from the nation’s earliest days. Join a National Park Ranger at Fort Wadsworth to learn how these men and women contributed to our national defense from the Continental Army through the Civil War, both World Wars and beyond. Hear about the challenges they faced and overcame.
