"It is so interesting how the river changes from day to day. We started at a big lake. Yesterday we went through rapids plunging down a bedrock canyon. Today we paddled on a broad braided river over smooth river rocks, then camped where the channels come back together into one big river. The river is always changing; eroding banks where it can, making new channels while cutting off others to form oxbow lakes. This river has a life of its own."
