visitors on trail

Here in the path of a lava flow you can view a variety of volcanic features, now frozen in time. The .3 mile (.5 km) paved trail crosses over a 2,500 year old lava flow that originated from North Crater. As you walk the path, imagine slow moving lava streaming around you as showers of cinders erupt high over the North Crater volcano—a scene that has been repeated many times here at Craters of the Moon.
