Established in 1636, Roger Williams’ Providence, served as a refuge where all could worship as their conscience dictated without any interference from government. Today, you can visit the fresh water spring that nourished a settlement where matters of religion were left up to the individual.

Roger Williams National Memorial is located in downtown Providence, RI.  Here you can discover the story of Roger Williams, the founder of Providence and an early proponent of freedom of religion.  The visitor center features an exhibit as well as a short film.  The grounds of the National Memorial also include a number of wayside exhibits.
