El Rancho del las Golondrinas (The Ranch of the Swallows) is a historic rancho, now a living history museum, that dates from the early 1700s. The rancho served as an important paraje or stopping place along El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro.

El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro (the Royal Road of the Interior Lands) National Historic Trail extends 404 miles from El Paso, Texas to Santa Fe, New Mexico, while the historic trail extended all the way to Mexico City. The question we hear most is "Where's the trail?" It's a good question. This national historic trail weaves through communities as well as wildlands. There are museums, historic sites, churches, and original trail segments located all along the length of the trail into Mexico. Travel the trail and experience an incredible heritage that dates back to 1598. Over time colonizers brought silver, chiles, silks, and other products from Mexico City; items that we still use across America today.
