2016 National Parks Bioblitz – Cabrillo: Urban Island

Cabrillo National Monument 

We welcome our community and collaborators to join us for a celebration of science, nature, and art on May 21st, 2016 from 9 am- 8pm. Local exhibitors will lead engaging STEM activities for guests of all ages on the topics of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Natural History. Throughout the day we will host talks from local researchers and lead guided hikes throughout the park using the biodiversity app iNaturalist (Available for Apple and Android). We recommend you download and familiarize yourself before you get to the park! Staff will be on hand to help should you have any questions.

Biodiversity Festival (Public Event): May 21, 2016 9am-8pm (Park is open later)

By Bus or by Bike: In the spirit of lowering our global impact, we highly recommend park guests utilize public transportation out to the Monument- Routes

Engaging the public in Citizen Science we look to gain a deeper understanding of the species that call Cabrillo home, as well as, inspire the next generation of stewards to explore and investigate their National Parks. Furthermore, our hope is that this event informs and excites the public of the unique ecosystems and organisms located right in their own backyard.
