Now that you have found your park at Valley Forge National Historical Park, it is time to Find Your Trail! Celebrate America's magnificent trail system by coming to Valley Forge's National Trails Day event on Saturday, June 4, 2016. 

From 8:00am-12:00pm there will be a Trails Expo featuring various interactive activity stations. Experienced Valley Forge rangers, volunteers, and REI staff will lead guided hikes throughout the morning. 

Some of the walks have limited space. To reserve your spot, pre-register using the links below. By pre-registering you will not only claim a spot on a walk, but you will also be entered in a raffle to win National Trails Day and outdoor gear. You must be present at the 8:15 am event opening to receive your prize.

BirdWalk –1.5 miles | Easy | 7:15 –8:15am
Pre-resister for the Bird Walk

Learn about local birds and their habitats with one of Valley Forge Join a National Park Service Ranger on a guided hike off the beaten path through the heart of Valley Forge National Historical Park! You will wander off the paved Joseph Plumb Martin Trail and onto the historic Baptist Trace Road, passing by some of the park's hidden gems. On this walk you will not only enjoy the beautiful landscape, but learn the historical significance behind the bumps, curves, and flat plains found throughout the park. The 2 mile hike will begin at Wayne's Woods picnic area, and follow the paved Joseph Plumb Martin Trail until Artillery Park. You will then walk the gravel Baptist Trace trail to Conway's Huts, and return to Wayne's Woods Picnic Area on the same path.

Historical Significance of Valley Forge –2 miles | Moderate | 8:30am and 10:30am
Pre-register for the History Hike

REI Hike- 2.25 miles | Moderate/Difficult | 8:30am and 10:30am
Pre-register for the Mount Joy Hike

How much of Valley Forge National Historical Park's 28 miles of trails have you hiked? This 2.25 mile hike will give you just an appetizer of what the park has to offer. Follow an REI instructor through sections of the Joseph Plumb Martin and Mt. Joy trails. This moderate to difficult hike will take you across everything from paved and flat to rocky and uneven trails. Along the way your guide will talk hiking skills, safety, gear, and present some facts about the area's historical and natural resources. The walk will start at Wayne's Woods Picnic Area, follow the JPM trail to Mt. Joy where you will do a loop on the mountain, and then return on the JPM.
