Come on out to Colonial National Historical Park at Yorktown (10am) or Jamestown (1:30pm) on Sunday, August 25th. Shades of Our Past will officially debut our newest character, NPS Ranger Harry Doust.

Yorktown was a very busy place during World War 2. Thousands of servicemen came in droves not just to visit the newly restored trenches from the famous siege, but to enjoy the local beach, the USO, and other near by attractions. Yorktown then, as now, was a living city with many civilians volunteering to safeguard their community. Step back to the year 1943, and meet "Light-Horse" Harry Doust, Chief Ranger of Colonial National Historical Park during World War 2. Not only was he a Ranger, but a local resident. While off duty, he served as Yorktown's chief Air Raid Warden and Plane Spotter. Hear stories of the World War 2 home front, the NPS, and Yorktown.
