Battle Person Detail

Colcock, Charles J.

At the battle of Honey Hill on November 30, 1864, a Union expeditionary force of approximately 5,000 men encountered a Confederate force of regulars and militia under Colonel Colcock at Honey Hill. Determined attacks by U.S. Colored Troops failed to capture the Confederate entrenchments or cut the railroad, which forced the Union troops to withdraw in the face of Confederate defenses.
