Ruggles, Daniel

Bio:
When the Civil War broke out in 1861, he immediately resigned from the United States Army. He served with the Department of Fredericksburg along the Rappahannock. In March 1862 he was commissioned as a brigadier general in the Army of Mississippi. He commanded forces at Corinth and at Shiloh. Afterward, he was assigned to administrative duties as commissary general of prisoners until the end of the war.
