Coburn, John

- At the battle of Thompson's Station on March 4, 1863, a reinforced Union infantry brigade, under Colonel Coburn left Franklin, Tennessee, in route to Columbia. Within thirty-six hours, and after three hard-fought attempts by Confederate skirmishers to capture his wagon train, Coburn was surrounded and forced to surrender.
