Pleasonton, Alfred

Pleasonton commanded the Union cavalry forces in the Army of the Potomac from May 1863 to March 1864. He served at Brandy Station and at Gettysburg. In March 1864, he was transferred to the Department of Missouri as commander of Union cavalry forces. He served at the Battles of Marais des Cygnes and Mine Creek, Kansas.
