At the Battle of Goodrich's Landing, in Louisiana in June 1863, Colonel Parsons, attempted to retake the Louisiana river parishes, with a combined force of the 12th and 19th Texas cavalry Regiments, 15th Louisiana Cavalry Battalion, Cameron'³ Louisiana Battery, and Ralston'³ Mississippi Battery. The arrival of Union reinforcements forced his retreat from the field before he succeeded in his goal, however, the raid was a minor setback for the Union occupying force.
