Jones, Samuel

Bio:
Samuel Jones was a pro-slavery settler from Virginia who became the sheriff of Douglas County, Kansas in 1855. He led the sack of the abolitionist stronghold of Lawrence, Kansas on May 21, 1856 and burned the Free State Hotel. He left the state in 1857.
