Churchill, Thomas J.
- Bio:
- In 1861, Churchill recruited the 1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles, and later, led them into service at the Battle of Wilson's Creek. He received a commission as a brigadier general in March 1862. In January 1863, he was forced to surrender at Arkansas Post. However, he returned to service as a participant in the Red River campaign, and later, in an attack at Jenkins' Ferry. In March 1865, he was promoted to major general just before the end of the war.
