Battle Person Detail

Anderson, George A.

Bio:
There are few readily available records of Anderson's service during the Civil War, with the exception of his service at Fort McAllister. In March 1863, Maj. Anderson served in command of the fort during the unsuccessful bombardment by three Union ironclads. In the following year, in December 1864, he attempted to hold the fort with 120 men against the attacks of the right wing of the Army of the Tennessee.
