Companies "A," "B," "C" and "D," organized at Alcartraz Island, San Francisco, Cal., January to April, 1862. Other companies organized at San Francisco and in Oregon at various dates.
Companies "A," "B," "C" and "D" ordered to Fort Vancouver, Wash. Ter., April 18, 1862, and sailed April 30, 1862. Company "A" on duty at Fort Vancouver till August 1, 1862, and at Fort Walla Walla till December, 1865.
Companies "B" and "C" at Fort Vancouver till June 26, 1862. At Fort Hoskins till June, 1863. Moved to Fort Boies June 1-July 4 and duty there till February, 1865. Expedition from Fort Boies to Salmon falls August 27-October 5, 1864 (Detachment). Ordered to Fort Vancouver February 16, 1865, and duty there till muster out.
Company "E" ordered to Fort Walla Walla August 1, 1862, thence to Fort Steilacoom September 23, 1862, and to Camp Lapwai October 19, 1862. Duty there till April, 1864. At Fort Vancouver till muster out.
Company "F" at Fort Dalles, Ore., till February, 1865, and at Fort Vancouver till muster out.
Company "G" at Fort Steilacoom till April, 1863. Ordered to Fort Vancouver and duty there till muster out.
Company "H" joined July 13, 1862, at Fort Walla Walla, and duty there till June, 1863. Moved to Fort Boies June 1-July 4. Operations against Snake Indians and protecting Emigrants till October, 1863. At Fort Walla Walla till May, 1864. Ordered to Fort Vancouver May 25, 1864. Duty there and at Fort Dalles till muster out.
Company "I" joined July 13, 1862. At Fort Vancouver till June, 1863. Moved to Fort Boies June 1-July 4. Operating against Snake Indians and protecting Emigrants till October. Duty at Fort Boies till muster out.
Company "K" at Fort Steilacoom December, 1862, to muster out.
Regiment mustered out December 11, 1865.
