English's Company, Mississippi Light Artillery

Overview:
Quitman Light Artillery was organized in Quitman County, Mississippi, during May, 1862. In August it contained 59 officers and men and was assigned to the Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. Stationed at Port Hudson, the battery had only 40 members in June, 1863 and was captured in July. After the exchange it was not reorganized. Its captains were Richard T. English and William S. Lovell.
