Walsh's Company, Missouri Light Artillery

Wade's-Walsh's Battery was organized during the early spring of 1862 with men who had
served in the Missouri State Guard. It moved east of the Mississippi River and in May totalled
107 effectives. The unit was active in Iuka and lost 1 killed and 2 missing at Corinth. It then was assigned to
Bowen's Brigade in the Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana and endured the hardships
of the Vicksburg operations.
The battery was captured in July, 1863, but after the exchange it was not reorganized. The
company was commanded by Captains William Wade and R.C. Walsh.
