CONFEDERATE MISSOURI TROOPS

1st Battalion, Missouri Cavalry (1st Indian Brigade)

Overview:
1st Cavalry Battalion, 1st Indian Brigade was organized during the spring of 1864. Most of the men were from Missouri, but some were from Arkansas and the Indian Territory. It was attached to General Shelby's Brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department, and skirmished in Arkansas. Later it was active in Price's Missouri Expedition. The unit was at Fort Washita, Indian Territory, in May, 1865, and soon disbanded. Majors Thomas R. Livingston, J.F. Pickler, and A.J. Piercey were in command.
