3rd Battery, Louisiana Light Artillery (Benton's)
- Overview:
- Benton's Battery [also called the Bell Battery] was organized in Madison Parish, Louisiana, during August, 1862, and entered Confederate service in September. It served in the Trans-Mississippi Department and for a time was part of the garrison at Harrisonburg. Later the unit fought at Deloach's Bluff and was active at Morganza. In September, 1864, it was assigned to T.A. Faries' Battalion of Artillery and was stationed at Alexandria. During the spring of 1865 it disbanded. Captain Thomas O. Benton was in command.
