The Tropical Storm Hermine has moved through the area. Today, the National Park Service assessed most of island locations for damage, for safety hazards, and that park resources are protected. Most of the park will re-open tomorrow, September 4, 2016.

Tropical Storm Hermine Closures at Cape Lookout National Seashore (Advisory 5)
The Harkers Island Visitor Center (HIVC) and Beaufort Visitor Information Center (BVIC) at Cape Lookout National Seashore have re-opened as of Noon today. However, all island locations will remain closed for the duration of Saturday, September 3, as park staff conduct limited park assessments today, dependent on conditions.

Seashore Duck Blind Permits Available For The 2016-2017 Hunting Season
Superintendent Patrick M. Kenney announces that permits for temporary duck blinds will be available at the Harkers Island Visitor Center beginning Tuesday, September 6, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., and thereafter Monday through Friday, except holidays.
