Birding opportunities on the Chukchi Sea coast are numerous.
The Chukchi Sea coast is located in the northwestern part of Bering Land Bridge National Preserve.
Ikpek Lagoon is a coastal tazit (lagoon) on the Chukchi Sea coast. These places of transition between land and sea are some of the most biodiverse areas in the world, and are important nurseries for fish, invertebrates, and other animals.
Bird viewing opportunities along the coastline and at coastal lagoons are exceptional, with bird species from both North America and Asia found along the coast. Wildlife viewing includes bears, whales, and reindeer.
Access to the Chukchi Sea coast is primarily by airplane, which can land on the sandy beaches. It is an ideal place for hiking with long beaches and relatively flat tundra.
