Veteran Story: Hal Hoversten

Hal T. Hoversten served in the U.S. Airforce from 1994 to 2002. Now he works with the Olympic Major Acquisition Buying Office duty stationed in Mount Rainer National Park.

Hal T. Hoversten

Hal T. Hoversten enlisted with the Air Force from November 1994 to August 2002 USAF/ANG serving in Washington State, South Korea, Alaska, California and briefly in Okinawa, Japan.

Hoversten started with DOI on a "not to exceed 2 week appointment" with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in August 2003 as a GS-5 Admin Tech in the Division of Migratory Bird Management at the Alaska Regional Office in my hometown of Anchorage, Alaska.

He continued as an Administrative Office Assistant with the U.S. Geological Survey in the Alaska Science Center in Anchorage before beginning a two year hiatus with the Tongass National Forest in Ketchikan, Alaska as a Contract Specialist. He returned to the DOI working at Mount Rainier National Park in May 2011. Today he is a contracting officer for the Olympic Major Acquisition Buying Office duty stationed in Mount Rainer National Park.

Hal’s hobbies include listing to music and raising his two daughters.
