This massive restoration and adaptive reuse project has brought the historic Mine Storeroom back to life after being inaccessible and uninterpreted to the public for nearly 50 years. Thanks to funding provided by entrance and camping fees, this building has not only been preserved and restored, but it is also home to new visitor services including a seasonal snack bar, event space, and ticket office for the very popular Pensacola Bay Cruises.

The restoration of the building included a near-complete replacement of the roof, new flooring (reducing the risk of flood intrusion), brick wall repointing, lead paint abatement, replacement of termite damaged posts, and removal of underground concrete to complete drainage system.
