Be prepared to move during this card game and maybe do some warm up stretches before hand

What You Will Need

  1. One less spoon than there are people playing (ex. If there are 8 people playing, you need 7 spoons)

  2. One deck of playing cards (no jokers)

How to Play

Getting Started

  • Have everyone sit in a circle with the spoons in the middle so no one person is closer to the pile of spoons than anyone else.

  • Choose a dealer for the first round, have them shuffle and deal 4 cards to each player.

  • The point of the game is to get 4 of a kind (so four 7’s, four Jacks four aces, etc)

  • The dealer will grab a card off the top of the deck and decide if they want to keep it or discard it because you can only have four cards in your hand. Then the dealer will place their discard card face down in front of the person to their left.

  • The dealer will then quickly continue the same action with the next card on the top of the deck and everyone else will quickly pick up and discard as the cards come to them.

  • If the dealer runs out of cards in the deck before someone gets a four of a kind they will grab from the discard pile that will be to the left of the last person in the circle and the game can continue.

Getting a Four of Kind

  • When a player does collect a four of a kind they will grab a spoon from the pile (either a sneaky grab or a loud grab, depending on your playing style). Then everyone else will scramble to grab a spoon from the pile.  The person left without a spoon will get an S.  If you end up spelling out S-P-O-O-N you are eliminated, like in HORSE.

Increasing the Fun!

  • If you want more exercise you can place the spoons in a location outside of the circle so when someone gets a four of a kind everyone has  to run to get a spoon

  • OR one person can hide the spoons in one location so when someone gets a four of a kind everyone has to search for the spoons.
