    Facts and figures for 2023

    Battlefield Land Acquisition Grants (BLAG) empower preservation partners nationwide to acquire and preserve battlefield lands. Last year ABPP awarded 31 BLAGs, totaling $18.7 million to assist with the non-Federal acquisition and protection of 1,417 acres of battlefield lands. These acres spanned across 9 different states, including Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Read more

  • Article 2: 2023 Preservation Planning Grant Year in Review

    2023 2023 Battlefield Land Acquisition Grant statistics

    ABPP’s broadest grant opportunity, Preservation Planning Grants (PPG), supports community-driven stewardship of historic battlefields and associated sites by providing financial assistance to eligible applicants. Awarding over $1.2 million in PPG funds in 2023, ABPP supported 10 recipients – 43% of all eligible applicants. Recipient types varied from nonprofits (60%), to state governments (20%), to local governments (10%), to institutes of high education (10%). Read more
